SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSEThe Financial Analyst - BD and M&A will be responsible for the execution of financial analysis to support the executive leadership team on critical business decisions. This role will perform duties to support corporate development, business development, strategic planning, life cycle management and general corporate finance activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESCorporate and Business DevelopmentPrepare company/asset valuation analyses on potential licensing and M&A transactionsBuild merger consequences models to evaluate potential acquisitionsEvaluate in-licensing opportunities from a financial/business perspectiveTest sensitivity of deal economics to variances in key assumptions, including synergiesContribute to preparation and presentation of deal summaries and recommendations to senior managementLifecyle Management and Strategic PlanningBuild and update long-range planning models and assist in preparation of BoD presentationsPerform discounted cash flow analyses to support lifecycle management of pipeline assetsPerform company-level and project-level valuation analysisPerform specific value-added analyses, e.g., resource allocation, profitability analysis, sensitivity/scenario analyses, benchmarkingEvaluate and compare the financial benefits of life cycle management initiatives/alternativesBuild analysis to support business partner recommendations on investment/divestment decisions to executive management and Board of DirectorsBuild and maintain effective relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to support collaboration, alignment, and successful execution of business prioritiesCorporate FinanceDevelop and standardize financial analysis models employing best-in-class financial analysis techniques, including scenario modellingAssist in development of cost-effective strategies for financing the company's business initiatives and optimizing the company's capital structurePerform comparable company analysis on biotechnology peers in a broad number of areas including financings, capital structure, deal-making, share performance, etc.Create company profiles on biotech and pharma peersMaintain corporate weighted average cost of capital (WACC) calculationProactively monitors industry news, trends, and market dynamicsPerforms other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standardsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo supervisory responsibilities.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIESEducationBS/BA degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience; orMBA degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or,Equivalent combination of education and experienceExperienceExperience in investment banking/management consulting preferredExperience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry preferredExperience working with cross-functional teams is a plusKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequired:Strong expertise in financial modeling and financial statement analysis (GAAP and non-GAAP)Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, FactSet (or comparable financial analytics tools e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ)Advanced Excel modellingStrong analytical, strategic, problem solving and organizational skillsStrong attention to detailStrong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skillsAbility to navigate ambiguity and perform analyses in situations with incomplete information and evolving assumptionsAbility to effectively manage multiple projects and competing prioritiesAdaptability to evolving business needs, priorities, and approachesDemonstrated understanding of operational drivers of the financial analysesAbility to translate financial analyses into clear business implications and communicate them effectively to cross-functional teams and leadershipPreferred:Expertise in evaluating and modeling various funding arrangements (e.g., revolver, term loans, equity issuances, etc.)Knowledgeable about the biotech / pharma industryTravel Requirements0% This position does not require travel.#LI-HG1Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $94,000 - $134,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
